About the role

Adult Bereavement Delivery Lead.

The focus of the role is to coordinate an allocated section of the ABS Volunteer Workforce (Bereavement Support Volunteers or BSVs) to support adults who have been assessed as needing bereavement support. This may be delivered through one‑to‑one sessions or a therapeutic group. The Lead will ensure that BSVs are fulfilling their obligations and adhering to St Christopher’s policies, procedures and organisational values as well as responding to any queries from the BSVs. The successful applicant will spend 20% of their conditioned hours on client‑facing clinical work, which may include a caseload of individual or group work.

Must be able to work on a Wednesday and Thursday; some flexibility for the remaining pattern subject to service need. Must also work across the three sites in Deptford, Orpington & Sydenham.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified counsellor (Level 4 diploma or above) with substantial relevant clinical experience in bereavement and loss
  • Self‑motivated and able to work quickly, prioritising competing demands
  • Effective at working independently and collaboratively
  • Strong risk assessment and response skills
  • Knowledge of St Christopher’s policies and procedures
  • Confidence using IT systems and software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to train and develop others, share knowledge and expertise
