As School Organist, the successful candidate will share responsibility for Chapel music, working closely with the Director of Music, Chaplain and Chapel staff, and playing for a range of midweek and Sunday services during term time. The role also includes:

  • Chamber coaching
  • Accompanying choirs, ensembles, productions, concerts, examinations and festivals
  • Assisting with Senior School Informal Concerts
  • Acting as Assistant Musical Director for whole-school musical productions
  • Playing a proactive role in all departmental activities and school events

An experienced teacher seeking promotion or a change of scene, or a talented music graduate at the start of their career; for the right candidate, there is the opportunity to undertake school-based Initial Teacher Training through St Catherine's long-established and highly successful ITT programme.

The successful candidate will be a high-level organist (ideally ARCO or equivalent) and an inspiring teacher, able to prepare pupils to diploma level and for Oxbridge organ scholarships, an area in which the School has enjoyed considerable success. They will have strong keyboard and sight-reading skills, as well as strong ICT skills for administration and record taking and will take a leading role in coordinating the annual Jennifer Bate Organ Academy.
