St Catherines Catholic Primary School, Cranham Avenue, Lowton, WA3 2PQ
Salary: Grade 4, £12,100 - £12,687 per annum. £13.26 - £13.90 per hour
Hours: 17.5 hours per week, working full year with holidays to be taken during school holidays. Hours of work are 2:30pm – 6:00pm. The working pattern during school holiday periods can be amended with prior approval from the Headteacher.
Role and responsibilities
- The governors are seeking to appoint a reliable and practical site manager.
- The successful candidate should be able to carry out routine maintenance, basic repairs and monitor major works as and when required in the school holidays.
- Managing the work of contractors on site and monitoring services that are provided externally such as cleaning and grounds maintenance is also required.
- The person appointed should have knowledge and skills relating to building maintenance and health and safety.
- The key skills which we are looking for are the skills to carry out repairs and minor building works.
- To maintain the security of the school premises by securing entrances, exits and areas, reporting potential security breaches to the relevant person.
- To operate fire safety equipment, carry out fire drills and respond to alarm systems where appropriate and to conduct regular routine health and safety checks (e.g., fire alarms, water sprinklers, legionella testing).
- To be the designated key holder on occasions providing access and attend to emergency call outs outside of normal school hours.
- To carry out minor repairs not requiring a contractor and undertake decorating and improvement work as directed by senior staff.
- To arrange emergency repairs with external contractors as required.
- To operate the heating plant and lighting systems, reporting any faults to the relevant person.
- To undertake emergency/specialist activities/cleaning (e.g., gritting, spillages, graffiti removal and litter picking).
- To organise and participate in the movement of furniture throughout the building and provide a porterage service around the school.
- To monitor and manage stock/goods including receipt, distribution, collection and dispatch.
- To collect and assemble waste for collection.
- To undertake cleaning duties within allocated areas in line with specified standards and check designated areas for cleaning to ensure required standards are met.
- To undertake record keeping as required and prepare cleaning rotas for regular and specialist cleaning.
- To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
Other duties
- To carry out the duties in the most effective, efficient and economical manner available.
- To continue personal development in the relevant area.
- To participate in the staff review and development appraisal process.
Health and Safety
- To undertake Health and Safety training on areas within your remit.
