Job responsibilities:

  • All our Housekeeping Assistants play a fundamental role in the delivery of outstanding care by ensuring the Hospice is safe and clean, and making our environment feel comfortable for our patients and their loved ones.
  • You will be responsible for cleaning patient rooms and supporting with our in-house laundry service.
  • You will also conduct routine cleaning of public areas and office space, in addition to regular planned deep cleaning and dealing with emergencies, such as spills.

Person Specification:

Experience:

  • Knowledge & experience of working to H&SAW, COSHH standards.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Good motivational skills with the ability to engage and empathise.
  • The ability to write and produce clear and effective correspondence.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
  • High standard of personal presentation of work.
  • Ability to operate in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Attention to detail and a strong motivation to maintain high standards.
  • Basic PC Skills.
  • Previous experience of working within a Housekeeping environment.
  • Familiarity with on-line training modules.
  • Experience of maintaining daily records of tasks & safety data.
  • Confidence to engage with patients, hospice visitors & the general public.

  • Flexible attitude to working hours especially with regard to covering absence and holidays, including bank holidays and weekends.
  • High standard of integrity and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, good basic English & Maths.
  • NVQs or equivalent.
