We are seeking an organised, motivated Advice Line Assistant, with excellent attention to detail skills, time management and organisational skills.

St Catherine's Hospice is a respected local charity providing specialist hospice care alongside statutory service partners (GPs, District nursing etc) across West Sussex and East Surrey. We provide care in communities across Surrey and Sussex which are richly diverse and we want to reflect that in everything we do. We are seeking a weekend Advice Line Assistant to be the frontline voice for referrals and queries to St Catherine's.

Job responsibilities

The Role:

This post is offered on a permanent, part-time basis, working 15 hours per week. These hours are worked Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 4pm.

Advice Line Assistant role will bring:

  • Handling calls from patients, families and professionals with sensitivity
  • Providing customer service and administrative support to help operate our 365-day service
  • Keeping accurate records of all calls and ensuring confidentiality
  • Fostering positive working relationships with internal and external colleagues, supporters and the general public

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Educated to at least GCSE C in English and Maths
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development
  • Qualification (RSA) in Secretarial/Administration or equivalent administrative experience

Experience

  • Excellent communication both verbal and written, interpersonal and the ability to communicate matters clearly and precisely.
