The predicted salary is between 12 - 15 £ per hour.

This is a vital role within our Income Generation Team to deliver high levels of customer service and contribute to the vital work of maximising our sales and profits.

Main duties of the job:

  • We are seeking a reliable, motivated driver to support the collection and distribution of donated goods across the Surrey and West Sussex area.
  • This key role supports our retail operation to run smoothly, ensuring efficient movement of goods between the shops and warehouses and representing the hospice in a positive manner.
  • If you have driving experience, effective customer service skills and enjoy working independently and as part of a friendly team, then we would love to hear from you.

This post is offered on a part time, permanent basis, working 16 hours per week. The hours for this post are Monday and Friday. The successful candidate will be an essential car user, therefore candidates must have a full, clean and current UK driving licence.

Job responsibilities:

  • Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
  • Ability to safely handle large and/or heavy items
  • Stamina for hands-on work
  • Working independently and as part of a team, working closely with the Superstore Manager to prioritise collections and deliveries
  • Professional manner, with the ability to represent the hospice positively at all times

Person Specification:

Experience:

  • Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with public, staff and volunteers
  • Basic maintenance knowledge of transport vehicles
  • Personal organisational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience
  • Ability to safely manage heavy loads and follow Manual Handling techniques
  • Experience of goods deliveries
  • Vehicle maintenance knowledge/experience
  • Experience of route planning and organisation
  • Some knowledge of St Catherine's Hospice work in the community, including its charity shops
  • Awareness of statutory regulations including H&S legislation, trading standards, hygiene etc

Qualifications:

  • General proficient level of literacy and numeracy
  • Customer service-related qualification or experience
  • Advanced driving qualification or training
