About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager (or aspiring Registered Manager) to take on an exciting new challenge – leading the launch and ongoing management of two brand-new childrens residential homes in Walsall.
This is a rare and rewarding opportunity to help shape the identity, culture, and success of two new 3-bed provisions from the ground up. You will play a pivotal role in embedding best practice, ensuring compliance, and creating nurturing, stable homes where children can thrive.
You will be supported throughout the Ofsted registration process and will have the full backing of a committed senior leadership team who share your passion for delivering outstanding care.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the setup, registration, and operational launch of two new 3-bed childrens homes in line with Ofsted requirements.
- Provide strong, inspirational leadership to staff teams leading on recruiting, training, and developing colleagues to deliver exceptional care.
- Ensure the homes meet and exceed Ofsted standards and the Childrens Homes Regulations (2015) and Quality Standards.
- Lead on all aspects of safeguarding, compliance, and quality assurance, including Regulation 44 and 45 processes.
- Promote a positive, child-centred culture where young people feel safe, supported, and empowered.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure sustainability and quality of care.
- Work collaboratively with external professionals, families, and local authorities to achieve the best outcomes for children.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a childrens residential care setting.
- Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, and the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, resilience, and empathy in managing complex situations.
- Strong organisational and financial management skills.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the homes.
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager of an Ofsted-registered home.
- Experience establishing or opening a new childrens home.
- Demonstrated success in achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes.
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday to Friday (flexibility required to meet the needs of the homes)
- Weekend availability as required
Location: Walsall (candidates must be able to reliably commute or relocate prior to starting.)

Work authorisation: United Kingdom (required)
Salary: competitive £55,000-£65,000 (negotiable based on skills and experience) + performance‑related bonuses.
