The role, reporting directly to the Catering Chef Manager, requires the post holder to be able to work using their own initiative, and as part of a team in a busy kitchen. The role is part time: 9.30am – 2.00pm Monday to Friday, term time only.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • To work with the kitchen team to provide hot and cold food per a predetermined menu, complying with relevant regulations for a wide range of local and international students and staff.
  • To work independently as required in preparing meals for the boarding house students and staff to defined timings daily, including some weekends.
  • Covering for the Catering Chef Manager in their absence with ordering, ingredient storage and management, upholding excellent food hygiene standards and food provision.
  • Rota will be days, with scheduled weekend working to an agreed timetable.
Key Tasks:
  • To work with the Catering Chef Manager to provide interesting hot and cold food, complying with relevant regulations for a wide range of local and international students and staff.
  • Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic.
  • Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately.
  • Sorting, storing, and distributing ingredients.
  • Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting, and cooking foodstuffs and helping to prepare salads and desserts.
  • Disposing of rubbish.
  • Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas.
