The Engage 2 Employ Coach provides a collaborative programme "READY" that combines the expertise of St Basils' Youth Voice & Engagement and Employability teams. READY stands for Resilience, Empower, Aspire, Developing You(th), a playful yet powerful expression of our mission to help young people build confidence, unlock potential, and prepare for the world of work. This programme brings together youth empowerment and employability development, ensuring every young person we work with is READY to take their next step with resilience, empowerment, aspiration, and personal growth.

Role Summary

The role involves delivering a range of engaging group work programmes and accredited learning activities to support NEET young people aged 16-25 who have experienced homelessness and are resident within St Basils projects. The postholder will use creative and innovative methods to inspire participation, build confidence, and support young people to progress into positive education, employment, or training outcomes. In addition to group facilitation, the role will provide 1-to-1 advice, guidance, and mentoring, helping young people to develop tailored career action plans and overcome barriers to progression.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging group work programmes and accredited learning activities for NEET young people aged 16-25.
  • Use creative and innovative methods to inspire participation and build confidence.
  • Provide 1-to-1 advice, guidance and mentoring to develop tailored career action plans.
  • Champion St Basils' Youth Voice principles, ensuring young people are actively involved in shaping services and influencing organisational decision‑making.
  • Work flexibly across multiple projects, acting as a key link between departments.
  • Deliver occasional evenings and weekends, achieving targets and building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Program Delivery and Learning

  • Ensure timely communication and promotion of Engage 2 Employ programmes to recruit and sustain engagement.
  • Support development of resources and materials for programmes and initiatives.
  • Plan and deliver accredited group activities focused on employability skills, supporting recognition of accreditation.
  • Conduct 1-to-1 and group inductions for young people identified by project staff.
  • Carry out initial assessments to evaluate learner attainment levels and identify learning needs.
  • Use lesson planning and structured learning schedules to meet contractual skill delivery outcomes.
  • Apply creative teaching methods (e.g., sport arts, digital media) to develop skills, confidence, employability, teamwork and citizenship skills.
  • Assess learners' work against accreditor standards, provide detailed feedback and support progression.
  • Produce post‑programme reports on young people’s progress, outcomes and achievements.
  • Undertake grant applications and purchasing activities, ensuring expenditure is accurately recorded and annotated as grant‑funded where applicable.

Coaching, Mentoring and Support

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people on both a group and 1-to-1 basis.
  • Use coaching and mentoring approaches to motivate and constructively challenge attitudes and behaviours.
  • Facilitate 1-to-1 sessions to provide high‑quality information, advice, guidance and pastoral support in accordance with Matrix Standards.
  • Work with agreed KPI targets to support young people into employment, education or training opportunities.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance on engagement, education, qualifications and CV writing, working closely with the Partnership and Employer Liaison team.

Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure delivery meets internal quality standards and complies with St Basils toolkits and contractual obligations.
  • Contribute to ongoing review and development of St Basils Learning Programmes for young people.
  • Maintain accurate and timely recording of all engagement and learning activities on relevant systems.
  • Provide success stories, outcome data and case studies to support internal and external reporting.
  • Support quality assurance processes for accredited and non-accredited programmes such as E&D, MST, Life Skills and contribute to module development where required.

Youth Engagement

  • Support and coordinate St Basils Local Engagement Offer, ensuring young people’s voices are central to project grouping, local service delivery and development.
  • Facilitate support and encourage active involvement of House Reps across groupings, ensuring their feedback informs service improvements.
  • Support delivery of Time 2 Talk sessions.
  • Support and recruit Youth Advisory Board members when needed.
  • Coordinate and contribute to Annual Youth Standards Review within groupings.
  • Promote, encourage and refer young people to engage in research and focus groups.
  • Be an active ambassador for St Basils Missions and Values and promote opportunities for young people to thrive.
  • Work effectively in partnerships with internal colleagues, external agencies and community stakeholders.
  • Work flexibly across locations, including evening, weekends and residentials where required.
