About the Role

Service Delivery Responsibilities
- Participate in the delivery of services to young people, including undertaking needs, risk, and vulnerability assessments, developing support and risk management plans, and leading or participating in case review and multi‑agency meetings.
- Develop and deliver life and social skills programmes in individual and group settings and facilitate the participation of young people in their support plans.
- Support young people to make their voices heard and enable them to participate in activities and events.
- Support young people’s engagement with work and learning, develop positive family and other support networks, assist them to maintain accommodation and to provide support with any problems which may arise.
- Ensure young people feel supported and encourage them to engage with internal and external services as part of their support.
- Provide psychologically informed environments for young people in our services.
- Support and encourage young people to undertake the St Basils life skills programme and to achieve qualifications and sustain education, training, and employment opportunities.
- Establish and develop links with training providers, employers, and volunteering networks to improve access to training and work opportunities for young people.
- Organise and accompany young people to appointments as appropriate.
- Prepare them to take up and sustain settled accommodation and to continue to provide ongoing support.
- Be available to young people for regular support sessions and to respond to crises.
- Maintain accurate records such as support plans, day‑to‑day records, incidents and complaints.
- Assist in the preparation of accommodation, which may involve setting up starter packs and clearing rooms as needed.
- Provide regular, person‑centred and structured outcome‑focused support that prevents and responds to change or crisis.
- Support young people to access move‑on accommodation and transition from supported housing into their own home.
- Lead and manage the arrangement and delivery of activities for young people.
- Ensure benefit claims are made to maximise young people’s incomes and support them in paying rent and bills.
- Support young people in managing debts, rent accounts, and property maintenance to sustain tenancies.
- Lead and manage the delivery of formal and informal resident consultations.
- Manage and resolve incidents of anti‑social behaviour in a manner consistent with PIE, de‑escalating difficult situations and encouraging young people to make good choices.
Housing Services Responsibilities
- Carry out property inspections, raise repairs and undertake cleaning duties as required.
- Carry out non‑specialist health and safety testing such as weekly fire alarm tests, fire drills, and monthly emergency lighting tests.
- Support the letting of void properties; assess the suitability of referrals, arrange and deliver property viewings, and facilitate sign‑ups and inductions.
- Provide access for contractors, St Basils staff and other third parties in accordance with tenancy and licence agreements.
- Support young people to set up accounts with utilities providers and councils and help them understand payment responsibilities.
- Support the recharge process where damage has been caused by a young person.
Essential Qualifications
- NVQ level 3 in health & social care, advice and guidance, or other relevant/equivalent qualification (or prepared to work towards).
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ level 4 or above in care, advice and guidance or other relevant/equivalent qualification (e.g. Youth or Social Work) or working towards this.
Essential Role Experience
- Working with young people in settings such as Youth Work, Residential or Social Work, Probation, Community Work, Education and Training, Housing.
- Experience of working with and delivering a service through payments by outcomes (PBO or PBR).
- Experience of working with young people with multiple complex needs.
- Experience of safeguarding vulnerable children, young people, or adults.
Desirable Role Experience
- Experience of working in a psychologically informed environment.
- Experience of working with people with dual diagnosis.
- Experience working with volunteers or students.
Essential Knowledge
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of current welfare rights and relevant legislation.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of housing legislation.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of the Children, Adults, and Associated Care Acts.
Desirable Knowledge
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of Ofsted supported accommodation requirements.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of Housing Benefit UC rent systems.
