1:1 Teaching Assistant in Royal Wootton Bassett

Royal Wootton Bassett Full-Time On-site
St Bartholomew's Primary Academy

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at St Bartholomew’s Primary Academy. The successful candidate will work with a number of children with additional needs, providing support within the classroom as well as through targeted individual and small-group activities.

Our school is committed to ensuring that all children, including those with SEND, are fully included in school life. Support is tailored to the needs of individual pupils, with staff working closely with teachers, SEND staff, parents and other professionals.

Whilst the role is fixed term until 31 August 2027, it is anticipated that the role will continue beyond this date for as long as there remains an identified support need for the children and the school continues to receive the additional funding required to support the post.

The role will include:

  • Supporting a range of children with additional needs across the school.
  • Working alongside class teachers to help pupils access learning and participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Delivering targeted interventions and small-group or individual support where required.
  • Supporting children's communication, social and emotional development and independence.
  • Adapting resources and approaches to meet individual children's needs.
  • Helping to monitor children's progress and contributing to the review of support strategies.
  • Working positively and collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and other colleagues.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is caring, patient and able to build positive relationships with children.
  • Has high expectations and believes that every child can succeed.
  • Is flexible and able to adapt their approach to the differing needs of individual pupils.
  • Can encourage children to develop confidence and independence.
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with colleagues.
  • Has experience of supporting children with SEND or additional needs, although relevant training and a willingness to learn will also be valued.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

At St Bartholomew’s, our vision is “Hand in hand we learn, we grow, we soar.” Our values of courage, kindness, perseverance, trust, respect and love underpin school life.

What we offer:

  • A welcoming and inclusive school.
  • A friendly and supportive staff team.
  • Opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in supporting children with a range of additional needs.
  • SEND-specific training and the opportunity to work alongside experienced staff.

We want our staff to thrive so we offer an extensive range of wellness services and professional learning opportunities to support growth and development. Please visit our website for further details: Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust - Wellness

We value the diversity of our workforce and welcome applications from all.

All applicants will be notified of the shortlisting decisions by email. References for shortlisted candidates will be requested before interviews.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
