An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trauma-Informed Community Lead to support the development and delivery of a Trauma-Informed Community Programme within the St Austell Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT). This role focuses on building compassionate, trauma-informed approaches across community services, voluntary sector partnerships, and neighbourhood support networks. The post-holder will work alongside people who may have experienced trauma, adversity, social exclusion, homelessness, poverty, domestic abuse, mental health challenges, or repeated crisis situations. The role is designed to be accessible to candidates from a wide range of backgrounds across the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. We welcome applicants with experience in community development, youth work, homelessness, social care, lived experience leadership, advocacy, family support, domestic abuse services, recovery services, wellbeing programmes, coaching, peer support, or related sectors. The successful candidate will help strengthen relationships between services and communities, improve access to support, and promote a more compassionate and psychologically informed culture across local systems.

Main duties of the job

  • Champion trauma-informed and relationship-based practice across neighbourhood services
  • Build strong partnerships between health, social care and voluntary sector organisations
  • Support people with complex life experiences to access appropriate services and community support
  • Work closely with social prescribers, peer workers, community connectors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Help embed inclusive and culturally sensitive approaches across services
  • Contribute to service redesign focused on prevention, wellbeing and community resilience
  • Support community engagement and co-production with people who have lived experience

Person Specification

  • Relevant experience in the voluntary, community, social care, wellbeing or support sector
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development or equivalent lived/professional experience
  • Qualification in community development, youth work, social care, counselling, mental health, coaching, education, safeguarding, or related fields
  • Training in trauma-informed practice, restorative practice, mental health awareness, ACEs, safeguarding or psychologically informed environments

Experience

  • Experience supporting individuals facing complex social, emotional or wellbeing challenges
  • Experience building partnerships or working collaboratively across organisations
  • Experience working in community, voluntary or person-centred support settings
  • Experience engaging people who may struggle to access services or trust professionals
  • Experience working with people affected by trauma, homelessness, addiction, domestic abuse, poverty or social exclusion
  • Experience facilitating groups, workshops or reflective practice
  • Experience in service development, co-production or community engagement
  • Good working knowledge of Systm1
