We are looking for an experienced and curious Technical Brewer to play a pivotal role in shaping the quality, efficiency and future direction of our beers and production operations as well as to manage our 10 barrel Small Batch brewery. This is a hands‐on, influential role that balances technical brewing excellence, structured continuous improvement, and creative innovation. You will act as a technical authority within the brewing and packaging functions while leading our Small Batch Brewery, championing innovation, and bringing new beer ideas to life in collaboration with Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Brewing & Continuous Improvement
    • Identify and deliver viable opportunities to improve beer quality, brewing & packaging efficiency and sustainability across brewing operations.
    • Own and manage the Technical Brewing Continuous Improvement (CI) projects at St Austell, ensuring clear, structured and timely investigations.
    • Lead detailed root cause analyses and implement practical, cost‐effective solutions.
    • Maximise product quality whilst minimising cost and waste.
    • Monitor laboratory results and use data‐driven insight to inform ongoing and future brewing projects.
    • Positively challenge existing processes and behaviours to continuously improve ways of working within the Brewing function.
  • Operational Excellence & 5S
    • Take a leading role in embedding 5S across brewing areas.
    • Set standards.
    • Drive actions.
    • Encourage and engage others to sustain best practice.
  • Small Batch Brewery & Innovation
    • Lead all Small Batch Brewery activities, ensuring the Belgian Beer range, annual Cask Club, and limited edition Small Batch releases are produced on time, in full and to the highest quality standards.
    • Spearhead the innovation of new products, working closely with Marketing to ensure our beer portfolio remains exciting, relevant and fit for the future.
    • Use extensive brewing knowledge and creativity to translate concepts into exceptional beers.
    • Provide clear and informed input into the Production Plan.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Technically strong brewer, qualified to CIBD Diploma or equivalent brewing degree qualification.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and innovation, comfortable moving between data‐led problem solving and creative product development.
  • Extensive brewing knowledge and practical experience.
  • Strong technical and analytical capability.
  • Experience delivering continuous improvement initiatives.
  • A structured, detail‐oriented approach to investigations.
  • Confidence to challenge constructively and drive change.
  • A passion for innovation and storytelling.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, particularly with Marketing and Production teams.
  • Experience with laboratory data interpretation, CI tools, 5S, and small batch or experimental brewing will be highly beneficial.
