In order to make an application, simply read through the following job description and make sure to attach relevant documents. We're building something new and we want you to be part of it. Following the successful recruitment of the first HR Advisor into our newly created HR Advisory team, we are now looking to appoint two further proactive, commercially minded HR Advisors to support our pub operations and support function managers. This is a fantastic opportunity to join St Austell Brewery at an exciting stage, helping shape how operational HR support is delivered while creating great colleague experiences that ultimately drive outstanding guest experiences.
The Role
Reporting into a Senior HR Business Partner, you'll provide hands-on, practical employee relations support, working closely with managers across our estate to guide them confidently through the full range of people matters. You'll lead on ER casework including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and probation issues, ensuring advice is clear, fair, consistent, risk-aware, and aligned with both employment law and our values-led culture. A key part of the role is building capability rather than dependency, coaching and supporting managers to deal with people issues early, informally and confidently, while embedding best practice and consistency across the business.
Alongside case management, you'll:
- Use people data and insight to identify trends and inform proactive solutions
- Support absence management and wellbeing processes
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies, processes and ways of working
Working collaboratively with HR colleagues, payroll and resourcing teams, you'll also provide operational support on:
- Onboarding and induction queries
- Pay and contract queries
- Organisational change and consultation activity
- Day-to-day people problem solving
This is a varied, fast-paced role that will suit someone who enjoys being close to the business and making a real impact. You will work remotely, managing your own diary and travelling regularly between our sites and offices to provide support where needed. Applicants should therefore either reside within our operating region or have a clear and realistic relocation plan in place, and must hold a full, clean driving licence.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong ER knowledge with a pragmatic, people‐centred approach. You'll need:
- Experience advising managers on a broad range of employee relations matters
- A solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to coach and challenge constructively
- Confidence handling sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
- Sound judgement and the ability to assess and manage risk
- CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards)
- Experience working in a fast‐paced, multi‐site environment
- Experience delivering training sessions or workshops
What We Offer in Return
- 25 days' annual leave plus 8 bank holidays
- Company bonus scheme
- 30% discount on food & drink in our managed pubs and Visitor Centre shop
- 50% discount on accommodation across the managed estate
- Fantastic training and career development opportunities
- Pension scheme: 4% employee and employer contributions (option to increase to 5%)
- Cycle to work scheme
- Westfield Health cash plan – claim back on dental, eye care, physio and more
- Westfield Rewards – retail and lifestyle discounts
