We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Property Maintenance Operative to join our team, supporting the upkeep and presentation of our flagship Managed House sites across Plymouth, South Hams, Totnes, and Torbay.
As part of our field-based Property Team, you will play a key role in maintaining the high standards, character, and atmosphere of our pubs, ensuring every customer-facing area is safe, functional, and welcoming—directly contributing to the exceptional guest experience we are known for.
The Role
This is a hands-on, field-based role, attending pubs while they are open to resolve guest-facing maintenance issues. You will:
- Travel between multiple sites in a company van fully equipped with general tools and equipment, sourcing additional materials as needed
- Triage maintenance issues across your area, prioritising urgent or guest-impacting faults
- Undertake minor plumbing, general maintenance, decorating, and repairs to fixtures and fittings, completing each task to an exceptionally high standard to maintain the premium quality of our venues
- Identify faults or issues that pose a risk to health and safety (e.g., electrical faults) and ensure these are promptly deferred to specialist independent contractors
- Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety regulations, using appropriate PPE and maintaining all required documentation, including risk assessments and COSHH records
- Maintain the company van, tools, and equipment, reporting any defects promptly
Support a proactive approach to ongoing property upkeep, preventing minor issues from becoming major problems
About You
Based in Plymouth, South Devon, or Torbay with a full UK driving licence
Trade knowledge in plumbing, electrical, joinery, decorating, or general building maintenance
Proven experience working in busy, commercial, or customer-facing environments—hospitality experience is desirable but not essential
Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks across different sites, and prioritise effectively
Strong organiser with attention to detail and a proactive mindset
Excellent understanding of Health & Safety legislation and risk management
Computer literate, with the ability to use standard office software
Ideally, previous experience using a multi-site property maintenance management system
