We are looking for an enthusiastic, engaging and creative Teacher of English. You will have experience in teaching students of all abilities to reach their academic potential and strive to help every individual achieve their best.

About St Augustine Academy

St Augustine Academy is a non-selective 11-16 school in Maidstone, Kent which benefits from excellent resources and an exciting and vibrant learning environment. Our Academy has a calm, purposeful atmosphere. We strive to broaden horizons and challenge our students to achieve their potential. We offer a rigorous academic curriculum, a strong behaviour policy and a wide ranging enrichment programme. The Academy believes in offering a broad and balanced curriculum which includes a comprehensive Enrichment Program where students have the opportunity to choose an activity to further their personal interests. All staff are expected to offer an activity. This role will also include being responsible for the pastoral care of a Mentor group and could include possible pastoral responsibilities for the right candidate. We are committed to continual CPD and a positive work life balance for staff. We offer additional training days, support staff to complete additional qualifications and remove unnecessary workload. Staff are fully involved in developing Academy policies.

Responsibilities

  • Teach English to students of all abilities, using a bespoke and carefully constructed curriculum.
  • Deliver small group tutoring for intervention where needed.
  • Provide pastoral care for a Mentor group.
  • Offer enrichment activities as required.
  • Participate in CPD, training days and policy development.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience teaching English to a diverse range of students.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Suitable for NQT graduates (new graduate teachers).
