St Antony’s College is recruiting for a Lodge Porter. The Porters’ Lodge operates 24 hours a day 365 days of the year, and provides a reception, telephone call handling, mail distribution, health and safety, and security service for the College. As the first point of contact for visitors, the Lodge Porter is key to providing a professional service and welcome to the College.
Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance and information to all visitors to the Lodge and operate the College telephone switchboard.
- Check in guests, receive cash and card payments, process lost property, and sort and distribute incoming mail.
- Manage outgoing mail, re-direct mail to current and ex-members of the College, and oversee photocopying and fax facilities within the Lodge.
- Ensure adherence to security procedures, operate and monitor CCTV, safeguard keys, cash and documents, and respond to alarm activations.
- Act as a First Aider and Fire Marshal when on duty.
- Provide advice and assistance with audio/visual equipment in meeting and seminar rooms and stay up to date with College events and activities.
Qualifications:
- Friendly, welcoming and professional manner with excellent customer service skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage effectively with a wide range of people and work well in a team.
- Good organisational skills; ability to remain calm under pressure; understanding of handling confidential matters.
- Sound computer skills; enthusiasm for working in an international, multicultural environment; flexible approach to working hours and arrangements.
- Recent relevant experience, particularly in front of house, reception, or security, would be advantageous.

- Full-time equivalent of 41 days’ annual leave (including bank/public holidays).
