Overview
As a Support Worker at Bellevue you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to overcome mental health challenges and lead fulfilling lives. This is a 24/7 service; flexibility is essential and the role may involve varied shifts, including day/evening shifts, waking nights, long days, and alternate weekends.
Responsibilities
- Emotional Support and Mental Health Management: Crisis Intervention; Coping Skills Development; Mental Health Promotion.
- Practical Support and Life Skills Development: Daily Living Skills; Financial Management; Healthcare Support; Social and Community Engagement.
- Person-Centred Care: Individualised Support; Choice and Control; Respect and Dignity; Collaboration.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Accurate Documentation; Clear and Concise Reporting.
- Additional duties: Ensure that all support and care protect clients from abuse and exploitation, maintain dignity, and support positive risk-taking; understand that each client is different with varying needs; support quality inspection processes; work in accordance with Health and Safety requirements (Manual Handling, Food Hygiene, Fire Safety, infection control, Risk Assessments); carry out household duties (cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.) as required; provide care in accordance with each clientβs care plan; adaptable to changing daily requirements.
Requirements and Expectations
- Willingness to provide appropriate care and support in line with care plans; able to work a variety of shifts and cover at other local services in the absence of other staff.
- Desirable: some experience of working in a care environment; proven teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts and potential cross-service coverage; confident in speaking with professionals and services involved with clients.
- Ability to manage incidents calmly and report safeguarding concerns to the local authority/appropriate professionals.
- Understanding the importance of maintaining accurate written and numerical records; ability to undertake a wide range of domestic duties; willingness to learn computer packages (e.g., Nourish, Civica, Teams, Word, Outlook) and undertake relevant training in care as required.
- Team player with good communication skills to liaise with carers, families, inspectors, and other stakeholders.
About the Service and Role
St Anne\’s Community Services are looking for 1 part-time Mental Health Support Worker to join our 24-hour supported living service at Belle Vue Road Service in Leeds. Please be aware that sponsorship is not offered. The service provides care and support for clients living in a 24-hour supported living setting for Mental Health. Some clients may present challenging behaviour and substance misuse.
