Starting salary £12.21ph rising to £12.41 after successful completion of probation and to £12.60 after a further 12 months in post. St Anne's Community Services operates 24/7 supporting individuals in their homes and communities. We are seeking caring and enthusiastic Support Workers for supported living and outreach services across South Tyneside. Flexibility, a UK driving licence, and a genuine interest in helping clients live independently are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review person‐centred support plans with clients, ensuring they reflect the clients' views and aspirations.
  • Support clients to fulfil their aspirations, live as independently as possible and participate in social visits, events, and other activities.
  • Communicate openly and transparently with clients and team members, and cooperate with inspectors during quality inspections.
  • Provide personal care respectfully, maintaining clients' dignity when assisting with washing, bathing, toileting and continence.
  • Keep accurate records, including daily notes, and adhere to Health and Safety requirements such as manual handling, food hygiene, fire safety, infection control and risk assessment procedures.

Detailed Job Responsibilities

  • Provide an appropriate level of care and support to clients, including personal care, in accordance with care plans.
  • Maintain accurate written and numerical records.
  • Carry out personal care and domestic duties as required by each service.
  • Perform physical duties such as climbing stairs, using hoists, pushing wheelchairs, moving people and working night shifts; adjustments will be considered under the Equality Act if required due to disability.
  • Use computer packages such as Word, Outlook and the Internet, and undertake relevant training and qualifications in care as required.
  • Work cooperatively as a team member.
  • Communicate effectively with carers, families, inspectors and other stakeholders.
  • Hold a current UK driving licence.

Person Specification

  • Experience: Previous experience working in care (employment or as a home carer) is desirable.
  • Qualifications: Care Certificate required or willingness to undertake a Care Certificate.
  • Desirable: Current driving licence.
