We are looking for a support worker to assist in the daily living needs of 13 adult male and female clients with learning disabilities. The support worker will work across two services in Leeds, a residential service and a supported living service. As a support worker, the clients will rely on you to help them with all aspects of their lives.

Staff will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with personal care needs
  • Medication administration and management
  • Preparing all meals and drinks (in line with the support plans)
  • Assisting with accessing the community (this may include using public transport or the service vehicle)
  • Supporting the clients with their emotional health
  • Completing all documentation in line with company policy and legal requirements
  • Liaising with family and medical professionals

Other duties will be required based upon the needs of the client and service; the list above is not exclusive. The support workers will provide personal cares and will be required to administer medications following the detailed care and support plans for the client they are supporting that day. To ensure that meals are prepared in accordance with any specific dietary requirements and any issues are reported to managers and medical professionals.

To ensure the client is supported to obtain medical treatment by making appointments and supporting them to attend those appointments, to update manager and support plans with any changes in the clients' needs. To ensure the clients' finances are managed in accordance with St Annes policies and report any concerns or irregularities. To undertake all household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and laundry on behalf of the client. To ensure documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner. To undertake any other duty not listed that is deemed necessary for the benefit of the client and the service provided by St Annes Community Services.

The role involves working days, sleep ins and weekends as the clients require 24 hour support. Experience is desirable; however, not essential as attitude and personality are more important. Experience is gained over time and all training will be provided. A driving licence is desirable as is a willingness to take clients out in the service car. The successful candidate will show patience, compassion and understanding towards the clients during all interactions.
