Bevin Court is a busy hostel for 66 homeless men aged 18 years and over. We aim to support people who have become homeless into gaining the skills needed to re-establish themselves in the community. We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are willing to go that extra mile to help clients at our hostel get the most out of life.
Main Duties of the Job:
- Helping to undertake assessments for admission
- Acting as a key worker for a small number of clients
- Participating in the “move on” process
- Helping in the day to day running of the hostel
The Candidate:
- Have a caring, confident and well-organised personality with the ability to adapt to situations quickly as every day is different.
- Have some experience of working in a support or housing environment (not essential, but desirable), especially with the homeless and an understanding of the needs of people with complex support issues.
- Have some experience of working with clients who have mental health or substance misuse issues (not essential, but desirable).
- Exhibit a positive attitude to our client group.
- Understand some of the issues facing homeless people.
- Be flexible in working various shift patterns.
- Be able to work three 12.5-hour shifts a week (could be a mix of days & nights in the same week).
- Have an understanding of the challenges of the role.
- Have a proven track record of teamwork and working in a fast-paced environment.

Person Specification:
- Previous experience working in care (employment or carer at home) - Desirable
- Care Certificate or required to undertake Care Certificate
- Current driver licence
