Aachen Brook is a nursing respite service that operates out of a 5‑bed facility. The clients have complex medical needs and behaviours that challenge for people with learning disabilities. No day is ever the same: the clients always make working in our service enjoyable. The main duties of the role include supporting clients to meet their individual needs including personal care and assistance attending leisure local activities. All the care we deliver is person‑centred to the needs of the individual and we develop lasting relationships with families and external multi‑disciplinary professionals, who we work closely with to deliver outstanding care. The complex care we deliver means there is always nursing support available with high staff‑to‑client ratios. During the days we have at least one nurse and support staff, management; at night we have a mixture of one nurse on waking nights and support staff.
Responsibilities
- Support clients’ personal care and attend leisure local activities.
- Provide nursing support with a high staff-to-client ratio.
- Work part‑time (30 hours per week) on a rota system that includes days and nights.
- Work closely with the existing nursing team to facilitate clients living their best life.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) with an active PIN.
- Experienced in nursing respite or learning disability settings.
