La Retraite is a high-achieving inner-city comprehensive school with 1,200 students, including a thriving Sixth Form. We were judged Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted (December 2023) and Outstanding in all nine areas in our Diocesan Inspection. We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Pastoral Support Manager to join our dedicated pastoral team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. This is a rewarding opportunity for a highly organised, resilient and compassionate individual who is committed to ensuring that every student is supported to achieve their full potential.
Working closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding staff, SEND colleagues, parents and external agencies, the successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting student welfare, attendance, behaviour and engagement across a designated year group.
Qualifications
- Have experience of working with young people, ideally within a secondary school or educational setting.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be confident in supporting students experiencing attendance, behavioural or pastoral challenges.
- Have the ability to build positive and constructive relationships with students, parents, carers and external agencies.
- Be highly organised with excellent administrative and record-keeping skills.
- Have a high level of ICT competence and the ability to produce reports and analyse information.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Be willing to contribute fully to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
Responsibilities
- Providing pastoral support and guidance for a designated year group.
- Supporting student welfare, behaviour, attendance and punctuality.
- Working proactively with families and external agencies to remove barriers to learning.
- Supporting safeguarding processes, including Early Help referrals where appropriate.
- Monitoring attendance and implementing intervention strategies to improve outcomes.
- Maintaining accurate records and producing reports as required.
- Contributing to the wider life of the school through parent evenings, school events and pastoral initiatives.
