About Us

We are St Andrew’s, a mental health charity with a clear purpose: to inspire hope for people living with complex mental health needs. We are a 125 bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprising eight units covering medium and low security for both men and women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport.

Senior Registered Nurse (RMN/RNLD) Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and evaluate person‑centred care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Maintain a safe, secure and therapeutic ward environment.
  • Administer medication in line with professional guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Manage risk effectively, including de‑escalation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients to support recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
  • Receive and provide clinical supervision.
  • Support the service to deliver specific outcome measures.
  • Complete required ward audits in line with the Clinical Governance strategy.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse qualification (RMN/RNLD) with a valid NMC registration.
  • Experience in mental health or secure/forensic settings.
  • Completion of preceptorship – up to 2 years post qualification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging behaviours.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
