About Us
We are St Andrew’s, a mental health charity with a clear purpose: to inspire hope for people living with complex mental health needs. We are a 125 bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprising eight units covering medium and low security for both men and women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport.
Senior Registered Nurse (RMN/RNLD) Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and evaluate person‑centred care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Maintain a safe, secure and therapeutic ward environment.
- Administer medication in line with professional guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Manage risk effectively, including de‑escalation and safeguarding procedures.
- Build therapeutic relationships with patients to support recovery and rehabilitation.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
- Receive and provide clinical supervision.
- Support the service to deliver specific outcome measures.
- Complete required ward audits in line with the Clinical Governance strategy.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse qualification (RMN/RNLD) with a valid NMC registration.
- Experience in mental health or secure/forensic settings.
- Completion of preceptorship – up to 2 years post qualification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging behaviours.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
