We are St Andrew’s, a mental health charity with a clear purpose: to inspire hope for people living with complex mental health needs. Our Birmingham site is on an ambitious improvement journey. As we continue to evolve, we are looking for compassionate, calm, and proactive WorkChoice Assistant to join our team. St Andrew’s Birmingham is a 125 bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprising eight units that cover medium and low security for both Men and Women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport.

The role will support the Central Staffing Lead and clinical and operational management teams to plan and deliver required nursing staffing levels, in line with clinical needs and operational budgets, whilst ensuring effective, efficient and quality services are provided to temporary workers (Bank and Agency), and operational teams.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships and communication with ward managers and operational teams.
  • Identify clinical shifts to be filled across the Birmingham site and work proactively to fill these with the most appropriate, cost-effective shifts.
  • Process shift bookings, cancellations and amendments received by email, telephone or Employee Online/LOOP, in an accurate, courteous and timely manner.
  • Undertake HR processes in response to quality, performance or conduct concerns.
  • Plan and coordinate Bank staff mandatory training in line with individual training expiry dates, ensuring Bank workers remain compliant, applying booking restrictions where appropriate.
  • Process recruitment activity, including external recruitment and transfers from permanent employees, ensuring recruited establishment is within required numbers.
  • Host training sessions for Bank workers.

About you:

You will have the ability to use initiative, problem solve, work autonomously and plan, organise and prioritise your own work. You will have the ability to establish credible and influential relationships with key internal customers including senior managers with excellent attention to detail. Strong IT skills are essential with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems along with excellent written and interpersonal communication, negotiation and the ability to multitask, manage an unpredictable workload / conflicting priorities. You will also have the ability to handle and interpret high volume complex data to improve and optimise staff utilisation. Knowledge of the e-rostering system and processes is required.
