Food Servery Assistants – Birmingham at St Andrew\’s Healthcare

Location: Birmingham

Salary: From £23,879 Per Annum, Pro Rata

Hours: Full Time and Part Time to work across mornings / afternoons and early evenings – every other weekend working. 20 hours per week, 4 hour shifts per day – working 5 days out of 7.

About St Andrew’s Birmingham

St Andrew’s Birmingham is a 124 bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprising eight units that cover medium and low security for both men and women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the wards and within the Patient Meal Service kitchen with appropriate guidelines.
  • Serve and deliver all food and beverage requirements to patients on the ward, load & deliver trolleys, and undertake associated cleaning duties.
  • Ensure that at the end of every meal and beverage service that all cutlery, crockery and condiments are removed from the patient area and correctly stored, disposed of or stacked ready for washing.
  • Wash equipment/utensils used in the preparation, regeneration, and serving of food and beverages (some items returned to the main catering department).
  • Maintain ward kitchen hygiene standards, ensuring it is clean and tidy at all times (sweeping / mopping).
  • Ensure good practice in relation to stock rotation and the discarding of out-of-date food.
  • Monitor and record fridge temperatures daily in accordance with food safety regulations and report problems as appropriate.
  • Ensure refrigerated food is labelled and stored correctly as per procedure.
  • Ensure all patients’ meals are accurate and served in a timely manner.

Please note: all staff being recruited are expected to be available to work flexibly across all wards when service demands require it.

Requirements

You will be required to work on the wards and within the Patient Meal Service kitchen with appropriate guidelines. You will be required to serve and deliver all food and beverage requirements to patients on the ward, load & deliver trolleys and associated cleaning duties. You will be expected to have excellent organisational and communication skills and work well under pressure whilst delivering excellent customer care to our patients.
