We are looking for motivated Healthcare Assistants who are able to work primarily between 7.30am and 7.45pm Monday to Friday to join our WorkChoice / Bank workforce on a zero hour's contract so you can choose when and how many hours you work to fit around your work/life balance. You will also be able to take advantage of enhanced pay and an excellent training programme.

St Andrew's Healthcare in Essex provides care for patients within low / medium secure and specialist rehabilitation services. All of our therapies, facilities, education, and activities are designed to reach the maximum potential for our patients and enable them to move forward with their journey through life.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you'll be under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional, usually a nurse, and work with doctors, psychologists, and a range of other healthcare professionals. The main contact you'll have, though, is with the people in our care.

There are no set entry requirements to become a Healthcare Assistant, but there are skills and personal characteristics needed. The role can be quite physically active, and we would therefore require you to be able to cope with the demands of an active post. To be a Healthcare Assistant in mental health care, you'll need to be:

  • Resilient
  • Caring and kind
  • Cheerful and friendly
  • Willing to do personal care tasks (washing, toileting, etc.) in some areas
  • Able to follow instructions and procedures
  • Able to work in a team but use your own initiative
