The Recruitment Coordinator will have responsibility for the planning, coordination and delivery of the recruitment process for up to 300 ELT teachers and academic staff across the organisations summer school and mini-stay programmes in the UK, Ireland, USA and Spain. The role will ensure that the organisation attracts, recruits and appoints high-quality academic staff who meet the required academic, professional and safeguarding standards. The postholder will play a key role in ensuring that recruitment is undertaken consistently, efficiently and in accordance with the organisations Safer Recruitment Policy, safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation in each country of operation.

In addition to recruitment, the role will provide support to the Academic Team in curriculum development, academic administration and coordination, as well as contributing to the effective management and coordination of summer school and mini-stay campuses. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of ELT, ideally hold a CELTA or equivalent ELT qualification, and have practical experience of teaching, academic management or recruitment within the ELT sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the annual recruitment campaign for up to 300 ELT teachers and academic staff across the UK, Ireland, USA and Spain.
  • Develop and maintain an effective annual recruitment plan and recruitment timetable.
  • Advertise vacancies through appropriate recruitment platforms, ELT networks, universities, social media and other relevant channels.
  • Manage applications and maintain an accurate recruitment pipeline.
  • Shortlist candidates against agreed academic, professional and safeguarding criteria.
  • Conduct interviews and, where appropriate, support other members of the Academic Team with candidate selection.
  • Maintain a strong candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
  • Build and maintain a database of suitable returning and prospective teachers.
  • Develop relationships with teacher training organisations, universities and ELT networks to support future recruitment.
  • Monitor recruitment performance and identify opportunities to improve the quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of recruitment.

Safer Recruitment & Safeguarding

  • Ensure that all recruitment activity follows the organisations Safer Recruitment Policy and Procedures.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements relevant to the organisations operations in the UK, Ireland, USA and Spain.
  • Ensure appropriate safeguarding checks, references, identity checks, qualifications and right-to-work/eligibility checks are completed before staff commence employment, in accordance with applicable legislation.
  • Ensure recruitment records are accurate, complete, securely maintained and auditable.
  • Work closely with the HR and Safeguarding teams to ensure compliance with organisational policies and local legal requirements.
  • Identify and elevate safeguarding or recruitment concerns appropriately.
  • Ensure safeguarding considerations are embedded throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Support the development and regular review of safer recruitment procedures as legislation and best practice evolve.

Academic Support & Curriculum Development

  • Support the Academic Director and Academic Team with the development, review and implementation of ELT curricula and teaching programmes.
  • Assist with the development and updating of lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching resources and academic documentation.
  • Support the implementation of consistent academic standards across all summer school and mini-stay campuses.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of academic programmes using student, teacher and Group Leader feedback.
  • Support the Academic Team with teacher induction, training and professional development.
  • Assist with the preparation of academic materials and resources ahead of each summer season.
  • Contribute to the development of new academic products and programmes.

Summer School & Mini-Stay Campus Coordination

  • Support the Academic Team with the planning and coordination of summer school and mini-stay campuses.
  • Assist with the allocation and deployment of teachers and academic staff across centres.
  • Support campus teams with academic staffing requirements and last-minute recruitment or staffing issues.
  • Assist with teacher timetabling, academic administration and staff deployment where required.
  • Work closely with Operations Managers, Campus Coordinators and Academic Managers to ensure effective communication between recruitment, academic and operational teams.
  • Support the opening and preparation of new summer school and mini-stay centres.
  • Provide additional operational support during the summer season where required.

Teacher Onboarding & Staff Experience

  • Coordinate the pre-arrival onboarding process for newly recruited teachers.
  • Ensure teachers receive all relevant information, documentation, policies and training requirements before arrival.
  • Support the organisation and delivery of teacher induction and academic briefings.
  • Help ensure teachers understand expectations around teaching quality, safeguarding, student welfare and professional conduct.
  • Maintain effective communication with teachers before, during and after their employment.
  • Gather feedback from teachers and use this to improve recruitment, induction and academic provision.

Data, Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate recruitment and staffing records across all countries and centres.
  • Monitor recruitment numbers, applications, interviews, offers, acceptance rates and staff retention.
  • Produce regular recruitment and staffing reports for the Academic Director and Senior Management Team.
  • Ensure recruitment documentation is stored securely and in accordance with data protection requirements.
  • Monitor recruitment costs and contribute to the effective management of the academic staffing budget.
  • Identify recruitment trends, challenges and opportunities and make recommendations for improvement.

Salary

The exact salary will be determined by your qualifications, relevant ELT experience, recruitment experience and overall suitability for the role. Your salary will be reviewed in accordance with the Companys normal review procedures and will be subject to the terms and conditions of your employment.

Hours of Work

From 18 August until 30 March: You will work 7 hours per day, with core working hours of 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, Monday to Thursday (4-day working week). From 31 March until the end of the second week of June: You will work 7 hours per day, with core working hours of 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, Monday to Friday (5-day working week). From the third week of June until 17 August: You will work 7 hours per day, with core working hours of 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, Monday to Saturday (6-day working week).

Holidays

The holiday year runs from January to December each year. You are entitled to accrue holidays based on a full-time equivalent entitlement of 28 days per annum, which will be pro-rated if you work part-time hours.

QualificationsEssential

  • CELTA or equivalent recognised ELT qualification.
  • Previous experience working within the ELT sector.
  • Practical experience of teaching English as a foreign language and/or academic management.
  • Strong understanding of ELT teaching standards and good classroom practice.
  • Experience of recruitment, staff selection, interviewing or staff coordination.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection within an educational environment.
  • Understanding and commitment to Safer Recruitment principles and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of recruitment activity and multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with teachers, academic staff, managers and external partners.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly during the summer season.

  • Experience working in ELT summer schools or residential language programmes.

  • DELTA, Trinity DipTESOL or another advanced ELT qualification.
  • Experience with recruitment databases, HR systems or applicant tracking systems.
  • Experience of working with British Council or other recognised ELT quality standards.

Salary and Benefits

From Β£27,000 / annum β‰ˆ $36,597 / €31,574. The exact salary will be determined by your qualifications, relevant ELT experience, recruitment experience and overall suitability for the role.
