Requirements
- A passion for reading, literacy, and promoting a love of books among young people.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage and maintain a school library effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with students, staff, and parents.
- Experience working in a library, educational setting, or customer service environment.
- Ability to support students in selecting appropriate reading materials and developing independent learning skills.
- Knowledge of library management systems and cataloguing procedures (desirable).
- Good ICT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and online research tools.
- Ability to organise and promote reading initiatives, author visits, book fairs, and literacy events.
- Experience of supporting literacy development and encouraging reading for pleasure (desirable).
- Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and use initiative.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to support the school's literacy and curriculum objectives.
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and approachable manner with a genuine commitment to supporting student achievement and wellbeing.
- GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent; a library or information management qualification is desirable but not essential
