Skills and Experience Required β Inclusion Room Manager
- Experience working with young people in a secondary school, educational, pastoral, or behaviour support setting.
- Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and support students to make positive choices.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies, restorative approaches, and student engagement techniques.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and attendance procedures.
- Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, and other additional needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.
- Ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional in challenging situations.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate records, behaviour logs, and intervention plans.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a pastoral team and collaborate with teaching staff and senior leaders.
- Confidence in supervising students independently and supporting their reintegration into lessons.
- Good IT skills and experience using school management information systems.
Desirable
- Previous experience in an Inclusion Room, Isolation Room, Behaviour Support, Pastoral Support, or Student Welfare role within a secondary school.
- Relevant qualification in education, youth work, behaviour support, counselling, safeguarding, or a related field.
- Training in restorative practice, de-escalation techniques, mental health awareness, or safeguarding.
- Experience analysing behaviour and attendance data to inform interventions.
