Overview
Provide support to students with additional support needs, facilitating positive learning and assisting with the development of confidence, social and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with teachers to ensure activities and programmes are delivered to meet individual student needs.
- Assist during social times, such as Kindergarten lunch cover and homework club, and during after-care.
- Welcome and register pupils on and off buses.
- Support pupils in developing confidence and social/communication skills.
What You Need to Succeed
- Knowledge and understanding of additional support needs and strategies.
- Ability to use a variety of resources creatively to respond to learners’ needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; patience and empathy.
- Registration (or ability to register) within 3 months of joining the Secure Child Sexual Child Protection Register (SSSC).
- A relevant qualification in a related discipline (e.g., NC/NVQ in Childcare, Teaching Assistant or Special Education) is an advantage.
