COURSE STRUCTURE
The PhD track lasts four years with first‑year students taking taught modules across a range of topics as well as in research methodology. Years 2 to 4 are devoted to working on the PhD dissertation; further training includes reading groups in specific research areas, workshops on presentation skills and academic writing and intense pre‑job market training.
Our faculty includes individuals at the forefront of the academic debate; they form a vibrant community where collaborations and exchanges across fields are common.
THE RESEARCH EXCELLENCE FRAMEWORK (REF) 2021 rated Bayes fifth in the UK for Business and Management research. In total, 92% of our research was rated as world‑leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*). This highlights the world‑class quality of Bayes Business School’s research and recognises the impact it has on business and policymakers.
STUDENTSHIPS
We offer up to six PhD studentships in Accounting and Finance, comprising tuition fees and a maintenance grant of £22,780 per annum for four years, starting in October 2026. Studentships also offer funding for conference attendance over four years. A PhD studentship award is also available for Black British students as part of an initiative to address the significant underrepresentation of Black British students in postgraduate research and academia.
