SSQ is partnered with a Financial Services organisation to recruit a pensions lawyer to their team of 10. This role offers a varied workload with a pensions focus and is suited for those with Private Practice or In‑house experience.

Job Description

• Provide practical and pragmatic legal advice, taking ownership and demonstrating accountability for realistic commercial solutions.
• Be a Qualified Lawyer with extensive knowledge of the pensions landscape, including the Pensions Act 2004.
• Advise on other relevant legal areas in addition to pensions law.
• Perform at a high level independently or as part of a team, developing effective internal and external working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Advise the Board, management, and staff on all legal issues.
• Proactively identify the legal input required on relevant workstreams and manage discrete projects with minimal supervision from the Head of Legal, or work closely with Managing Counsel on larger projects.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documentation, including papers for the Board and Committees, commercial agreements entered into by the Board with various third parties, and negotiate terms within the Board’s risk appetite.

Application Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent).
• Significant experience in the pensions market and pensions law.
