An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Commercial Technology lawyer to join a highly regarded and growing Technology and Outsourcing practice at a leading international law firm in London.
The team operates at the intersection of technology, financial services and innovation, advising an impressive client base spanning fintechs, challenger banks, digital payment providers, insurers, established financial institutions and fast-growing technology businesses.
With technology continuing to transform the financial services landscape, the team is involved in some of the most interesting and commercially significant projects in the market, from cutting-edge digital banking platforms and payments technology to complex cloud infrastructure arrangements, strategic outsourcing and large-scale digital transformation programmes.
The Role
The work is varied, commercially focused and often at the cutting edge of technology and financial services. Matters will include:
- Advising fintechs, challenger banks, digital payment providers and established financial institutions on commercial technology arrangements.
- Drafting and negotiating sophisticated technology contracts, including SaaS, cloud services, software licensing, systems integration and technology procurement agreements.
- Supporting the development and launch of innovative digital banking, payments and technology-enabled financial products and services.
- Advising on major IT outsourcing, business process outsourcing and managed services arrangements.
- Working on large-scale digital transformation projects, including the implementation of new technology platforms and cloud infrastructure.
- Advising clients on the commercial and regulatory considerations associated with outsourcing and technology arrangements in the financial services sector.
- Leading negotiations, managing complex transactions and building relationships with key clients.
- Playing an active role in business development and the continued expansion of the practice.
The Ideal Candidate
- A strong background in commercial technology transactions, including complex IT contracts, outsourcing, SaaS, cloud services and technology procurement.
- Meaningful experience advising clients in the financial services sector, whether banks, fintechs, insurers, payments businesses or other regulated institutions.
- Experience handling sophisticated technology agreements and negotiating commercially significant contracts.
- An understanding of the commercial and regulatory issues surrounding technology outsourcing within financial services.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and client relationship management skills.
- The confidence to take ownership of matters, lead negotiations and work directly with senior stakeholders.
- A genuine interest in technology, innovation and the evolving financial services landscape.
