We are working with a leading international law firm looking to appoint a Senior Associate to its highly regarded Data Protection, Privacy & Cyber Risk practice. This is a particularly interesting time to join the team. Following some recent changes within the group, the practice is entering its next phase of growth and is looking for a senior lawyer who can play a meaningful role in its continued development. For the right person, there is real scope to help shape the future of the practice, alongside developing their own profile and client relationships.

The team has an established reputation across data protection, privacy and cyber risk, advising a broad client roster that includes leading consumer brands, insurers and not-for-profit organisations. The work is genuinely varied, with the role expected to be approximately 50/50 across data protection/privacy and cyber matters. On the data and privacy side, the practice advises clients on complex regulatory, compliance and advisory issues arising from the use and management of personal data. The cyber practice handles sophisticated and often highly sensitive matters, including breach response and related regulatory and risk issues. Much of the team's cyber and breach-response work is necessarily confidential, but the wider practice is independently recognised by Chambers and Legal 500 for its expertise in this area.

The Senior Associate will work closely with senior members of the practice across a broad range of data protection, privacy and cyber matters. The role will involve advising sophisticated clients on complex and often business-critical issues, with the opportunity to take significant responsibility for matters and client relationships. At Senior Associate level, there will also be an opportunity to contribute to the wider development of the practice, including supporting junior lawyers, developing client relationships and helping drive the team's growth.

The firm is looking for an experienced lawyer with a strong grounding in data protection, privacy, and cyber. Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • High-quality experience advising on data protection, privacy and/or cyber matters;
  • Strong technical and analytical skills;
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach to advising clients;
  • Confidence managing complex matters and taking responsibility for day-to-day client relationships;
  • An interest in developing a broad practice across both data/privacy and cyber;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Senior Associate to join a recognised international practice at an important stage in its development, with high-quality work, a varied client base and genuine scope to make an impact within the team.
