We are working with a leading international law firm looking to appoint an Associate to its highly regarded Data Protection, Privacy & Cyber Risk practice. This is an exciting time to join the team as it enters its next phase of growth. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced practitioners in the field, gaining exposure to sophisticated matters for an impressive and varied client base.
The team has an established reputation across data protection, privacy and cyber risk, advising clients including leading consumer brands, insurers and not-for-profit organisations. The work is genuinely varied, with the role expected to be approximately 50/50 across data protection/privacy and cyber matters.
On the data and privacy side, the team advises on a broad range of regulatory, compliance and advisory issues relating to the use and management of personal data. The cyber practice handles complex and often highly sensitive matters, including breach response and associated regulatory and risk issues. Much of the team's cyber and breach-response work is necessarily confidential, while the wider practice is independently recognised by Chambers and Legal 500 for its expertise in this area.
The Associate will work alongside partners and senior lawyers across a broad mix of data protection, privacy and cyber matters. The role will involve advising sophisticated clients on complex and often business-critical issues, providing an excellent opportunity to develop experience across both sides of the practice rather than being confined to a narrow specialism. The successful candidate can expect significant client exposure and responsibility, alongside the support and training required to continue developing their technical expertise.
The firm is looking for an Associate with a strong grounding in data protection, privacy, cyber risk or closely related work. Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- Relevant experience in data protection, privacy and/or cyber matters;
- Strong technical and analytical skills;
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem-solving;
- An interest in developing a broad practice spanning both data/privacy and cyber;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- The confidence to work directly with clients and take increasing responsibility for matters;
- A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working as part of a close-knit team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Associate to join a recognised international practice at an important stage in its development, gaining exposure to high-quality work, a varied client base and strong opportunities for progression.
