This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced lawyer looking to step away from the demands of fee earning while remaining closely involved in a high-performing, market-leading transactional practice. The successful candidate will work alongside senior partners and key stakeholders, gaining excellent exposure to the commercial and operational management of a prestigious practice.
The Role
Working closely with the practice leadership team, the Practice Manager will play a key role in overseeing workflow, supporting the effective allocation of resources and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing workflow across the practice, ensuring matters are appropriately resourced and workloads are effectively managed.
- Working closely with partners and associates to monitor capacity, utilisation and competing priorities.
- Acting as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders, facilitating communication and coordination across the practice.
- Supporting practice leadership with operational planning, strategic initiatives and continuous improvement.
- Identifying potential workflow challenges and proactively implementing solutions to improve efficiency.
- Building strong relationships with partners, associates and business services teams to support the overall performance of the practice.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualification as a solicitor or lawyer, with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Previous fee-earning experience within a leading international, Magic Circle, Silver Circle or US law firm.
- Ideally, a background in corporate, private equity or M&A transactions.
- A strong understanding of the demands, pace and expectations of a high-performing transactional practice.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage and influence senior partners and lawyers.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to oversee multiple workstreams and competing priorities.
- A proactive, commercially minded and solutions-focused approach.
The Opportunity
This role would be particularly well suited to a qualified lawyer who has enjoyed working in a top-tier law firm but is now looking to transition away from fee earning without stepping away from the legal profession or the calibre of work that come with an elite practice.
Offering significant partner interaction, excellent exposure to high-profile transactions and involvement in the strategic and operational running of a leading practice, this is an attractive alternative career path for someone seeking to leverage their legal experience in a broader management capacity.
A rare opportunity to remain at the heart of a prestigious private equity practice, without the demands of a traditional fee-earning role.
