Role overview
This firm is in the market for a Commercial Litigation Senior Associate to provide high‑quality litigation advice and representation to the firm’s clients, and to support development of the commercial litigation practice.
Area of work / typical matters
- Disputes arising from commercial contracts
- Shareholder and joint‑venture disputes
- Warranty and fraud‑related litigation
- Misrepresentation and misappropriation claims
- Asset recovery and protection measures
- Professional negligence and insolvency‑related disputes
- Intellectual property disputes (trade mark, copyright, passing off, etc.)
The role also involves advising clients (including institutional investors, corporate entities and high‑net‑worth individuals) on complex, high‑value disputes with financial institutions and other sophisticated counterparties, covering matters such as:
- Mis‑selling and misconduct claims
- Breach of duties and contractual disputes
- Contentious restructurings and trustee disputes
- Structured finance and related disputes
Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent legal advice and representation across the litigation spectrum.
- Support partners in supervising and developing junior lawyers, trainees and paralegals.
- Contribute to business development and practice growth.
- Complete administrative and file management tasks as required for private practice work.
Candidate Requirements
- Excellent academic background and strong technical litigation ability, ideally with experience at a reputable firm.
- England & Wales Qualified (or in depth experience practicing within the UK)
- Effective team player with strong client‑facing skills.
- Commercially minded and proactive, with an interest in helping develop the practice.
- Clear logical thinker able to analyse complex legal and factual matters and explain them in plain commercial terms.
- Strong drafting and presentation skills (e.g., pre‑action letters, concise written advice, instructions to counsel, court bundles and settlement documentation).
- Able to prioritise, manage own workload and work independently with appropriate supervision.
- Adaptable and resilient, with excellent attention to detail and a “can‑do” attitude.
