Leading International Law Firm - Associate - 2-5PQE
I'm working with a leading international law firm that is looking to grow its highly regarded TMT team in London.
This is a particularly exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys sophisticated commercial and technology work but wants to be part of a genuinely standalone practice, rather than spending the majority of their time supporting corporate transactions.
The team is ranked in the top tier of both Chambers and Legal 500 and has built an excellent reputation for advising major international businesses, household-name brands and leading technology companies on some of their most commercially significant projects.
The work is incredibly varied, covering complex commercial contracts, technology transactions, digital transformation, SaaS and cloud arrangements, software licensing, AI-related matters and major outsourcing projects.
The team works on substantial, high-profile transactions across sectors including technology, retail, media, financial services and consumer brands. There is also plenty of opportunity to gain exposure to different areas of TMT law before developing a particular specialism.
What really sets this opportunity apart is the combination of quality of work, autonomy and culture.
The team operates with a relatively flat structure, and partners work closely with associates rather than through multiple layers of hierarchy. Lawyers are trusted to manage their own matters, encouraged to take responsibility and given meaningful client exposure from an early stage.
There is also a real emphasis on getting associates in front of clients. Whether that's attending meetings, getting involved in industry events or building relationships through networking, the firm actively encourages lawyers to develop their commercial understanding and become trusted advisers rather than simply technical specialists.
The culture is another major selling point. The firm has a reputation for being friendly, collaborative and ambitious, with a genuine focus on wellbeing and sustainable working practices.
Progression is also a real strength. The firm has a strong track record of developing and promoting talent internally, and the team is very much looking to recruit people who want to build their careers there over the long term.
The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial contracts, technology transactions and/or outsourcing, alongside a genuine interest in understanding how businesses operate. The team is particularly interested in commercially minded lawyers who enjoy client interaction, want to take ownership of their work and are keen to get involved in the wider development of the practice.
Experience in advertising regulation would also be of interest, although it is by no means essential.
For someone looking to combine market-leading TMT work, genuine autonomy, excellent client exposure and a more balanced working culture, this is a particularly attractive opportunity.
