The UK employment law team is comprised of approximately six lawyers. The team advises the business on all employment and people-related risk matters and is responsible for delivering high-quality, commercial and responsive legal support.
The Senior Employment Counsel will:
- Operate as part of a highly skilled team advising on a broad range of people-related matters, including contractual agreements, TUPE, restructures, business change, disputes, grievances, disciplinary issues, internal policies, compensation and benefits, whistleblowing, equality and diversity initiatives, restrictive covenants and terminations.
- Advise on both internal HR procedures and external claims (including ACAS and Employment Tribunal matters).
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver seamless support to internal stakeholders.
- Partner closely with key functions across the organisation, including HR and the wider risk and compliance community.
- Advise on the legal aspects of major people-related projects and strategic initiatives.
- Proactively identify, assess and manage employment law-related risks.
The ideal candidate will have:
- UK qualification with significant experience as an employment lawyer (ideally 8+ years PQE).
- Strong in-house employment law experience across advisory, litigation and organisational change matters.
- A proactive mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and credibility quickly.
- Experience collaborating with stakeholders at all levels across the business.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- A mature, discreet approach with the ability to handle sensitive issues.
- Strong drafting abilities.
- A flexible, adaptable working style and willingness to quickly learn new areas.
