A leading UK law firm is looking to recruit a Competition Associate to join its highly regarded disputes practice in London. The firm has one of the market’s largest dedicated disputes teams and regularly handles major commercial, banking and competition disputes. Its competition litigation practice is a core and growing part of the wider disputes offering, with the team acting on complex, high-profile and frequently cross-border matters.

The role

You will work closely with senior lawyers in the competition team on a broad range of contentious competition matters, including:

  • Standalone and follow-on competition damages claims
  • Collective proceedings
  • Matters before the Competition Appeal Tribunal and High Court
  • Both claimant and defendant-side competition litigation
  • High-profile and often international disputes

Competition litigation will form the core of the role, although there will also be opportunities to gain exposure to wider commercial and banking disputes. The successful associate will be given meaningful responsibility for matters while benefiting from appropriate partner and senior-level supervision. You will join a collaborative and supportive wider disputes team with a strong emphasis on development and progression.

About you

The firm is particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Confidence working directly with clients and developing trusted relationships
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within larger case teams
  • An interest in business development and identifying potential new matters
  • Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of matter and financial management
  • An interest in supporting and developing more junior lawyers
