About The Role

The senior commercial finance analyst process and transformation is focused on:

  • Delivering process improvements to support the wider team aimed to increase efficiency and effectiveness of planning cycles primarily focused on Sales and Labour.
  • Partner with business owner to support strategic projects.

A practical, delivery focused role requiring initiative and collaboration able to flex between analytical detail and questioning mindset to better understand opportunities. Commercially aware with effective problem-solving skills often with an ambiguous brief as the role requires genuine new thinking and challenging existing ways of working.

Experience in designing and building models, tools and processes end-to-end (e.g. Sales budgeting, cost-to-serve, promotional effectiveness) through to tracking results as transformation change is delivered. Curiosity, open-mindedness to change and resilience are critical to be successful within this exciting role.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Tools, Models & Process Improvement: Design and develop financial models and tools to support planning and decision-making. Analytical and able to work with large data sets, for example will need to understand cost allocation methodologies. Build scalable, standardised processes to improve consistency and efficiency. Automate manual activities where possible, improving speed and accuracy. Support development of dashboards and reporting to track project performance. Work with data and BI teams to improve access to high-quality, actionable data.
  • Transformation & Value Delivery: Partner on transformation projects from concept through to delivery. Build robust business cases, including financial modelling and benefit tracking. Define clear success measures and KPIs for each initiative. Track delivery of benefits vs plan and provide clear visibility of outcomes. Constructively test assumptions and ensure initiatives deliver tangible value.
  • Performance Tracking & Insight: Ownership of business cases with clearly defined benefits. Produce clear reporting on benefits delivered vs business case (financial and operational). Provide insight into performance drivers, risks and opportunities. Translate complex data into simple, commercial messages for stakeholders.
  • Planning, Forecasting & Reporting: Support annual budgeting, periodic forecasting and long-range planning processes. Deliver detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior year. Ensure labour and commercial assumptions are accurately reflected within financial plans. Support executive-level reporting, presentations and analysis for senior leadership teams. Provide ad hoc analysis to support strategic decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Business Partnering: Build strong relationships with Commercial, Marketing and Purchasing teams. Provide financial guidance and challenge to support decision-making. Engage and influence stakeholders through clear insight and collaboration. Support senior leaders with insight on key transformation priorities.

Essential:

  • Strong experience in Finance Business Partnering or FP&A.
  • Proven experience in financial modelling and analysis.
  • A strong passion for driving change.
  • Demonstrate experience of supporting or delivering business change / transformation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Ability to simplify complex problems and communicate clearly.

Desirable:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • Experience in building planning tools or performance dashboards.
  • Exposure to process automation or system implementation.
  • Experience working with Commercial, Marketing or Procurement teams.
  • Knowledge of BI tools (e.g. Power BI) or data environments.
