This role is REMOTE-based. To own and champion SSP UK & Ireland’s external voice and market identity, ensuring the business shows up in the right places, with the right messages, at the right time. The Marketing Specialist is responsible for shaping and executing SSP’s UK & Ireland external presence across digital channels, industry events, trade media and market communications, building brand awareness, relevance and credibility within the UK & Ireland insurance technology market. This is an externally-focused role. Working as part of the Sales and Marketing team and reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager, the Marketing Specialist will develop their skills and knowledge through a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, applying their learning directly to real commercial activity that makes SSP more visible, more compelling and more connected to the market it serves.
Main Area of Responsibility
- Owns and develops SSP UK & Ireland’s external brand identity and voice, ensuring that how SSP presents itself in market is consistent, compelling and reflective of its values and proposition.
- Acts as the guardian of brand guidelines across all external-facing materials, channels and touchpoints.
- Manages and continuously improves SSP UK & Ireland’s external digital presence, including the SSP (UK & I) website – taking responsibility for content accuracy, user experience, SEO performance and regular updates.
- Designs and maintains web pages, landing pages and digital assets that reflect SSP’s market positioning and support commercial objectives.
- Plans and executes integrated external marketing campaigns across digital and physical channels – including email marketing, social media (particularly LinkedIn), paid digital, trade press and events – ensuring campaigns are well-timed, on-brand and targeted at the right audiences within the insurance market.
- Creates high-quality, engaging external content including thought leadership articles, case studies, product and solution communications, event materials, advertisements and digital copy.
- Ensures all content is written and designed for external audiences, speaking to customers, prospects and the wider market with clarity, credibility and personality.
- Manages SSP’s presence at external industry events, conferences and trade shows – identifying the right events to attend and/or sponsor, managing logistics and materials, and ensuring SSP shows up professionally and memorably.
- Supports the sales and account management team at events where appropriate.
- Monitors and engages with SSP’s PR agency (Harrison Sadler) relevant industry trade media including Insurance Times, Post Magazine, Insurance Age and Insurance Business, among others.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of market trends, competitor activity and industry conversations, using this intelligence to inform content, messaging and campaign timing.
- Manages external marketing tools and platforms including CRM (Hubspot), email marketing and social media scheduling tools, ensuring accurate data, effective segmentation and meaningful measurement of campaign performance.
- Tracks, analyses and reports on the performance of all external marketing activity against agreed KPIs – including website traffic and engagement, social media reach and interaction, email campaign metrics, event ROI and lead generation.
- Uses insight to continuously improve activity and outcomes.
- Embraces and leverages AI tools to maximise productivity and the quality of marketing outputs – from content creation and campaign planning to performance analysis – always applying appropriate human judgement to ensure accuracy, tone and brand consistency.
Accountability
- Take full ownership of SSP UK & Ireland’s external brand presence and market communications, ensuring that SSP is visible, credible and well-represented across all external channels and touchpoints.
- Own and maintain the external SSP website – keeping content current, accurate and optimised for search, and proactively identifying improvements to design, user experience and performance.
- Plan and deliver an external marketing calendar that ensures SSP is saying the right things, in the right places, at the right times – aligned to the commercial priorities of the Sales and Marketing team and the broader business.
- Produce and publish compelling external content across all relevant channels, maintaining a consistent brand voice and ensuring all materials meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy and professionalism.
- Adhere to brand guidelines at all times.
- Manage SSP’s presence at external industry events – from initial identification and planning through to on-the-day delivery and post-event follow-up.
- Ensure event participation delivers tangible value in terms of brand visibility and market engagement.
- Maintain and grow SSP’s external social media presence, particularly on LinkedIn, building SSP’s profile as a credible, knowledgeable and engaging voice in the UK & Ireland insurance technology market.
- Manage relationships with external agencies, design partners, trade press contacts and event organisers as required, ensuring SSP gets best value and consistently strong representation.
- Report monthly on the performance of external marketing activity against agreed KPIs, providing clear insight on what is working, what is not, and recommendations for improvement.
- Support the generation of market awareness and commercial pipeline through targeted external campaigns, working closely with the Sales and Marketing Manager and the wider sales team to ensure marketing activity is aligned to commercial objectives.
- Continuously build personal knowledge of the UK & Ireland insurance market – including customer challenges, competitor positioning, regulatory developments and industry trends – and apply that knowledge to make SSP’s external communications more relevant and impactful.
- Complete all requirements of the Digital Marketing Apprenticeship programme, applying learning directly to the role and bringing new skills, tools and approaches into the team’s ways of working.
Qualifications & Experience
- Currently studying towards, or eligible to undertake, a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship (Level 3 or Level 6).
- A genuine passion for marketing, brand and digital communications, with a strong eye for design, copy and detail.
- Some prior experience or exposure to marketing, content creation or digital communications – whether through work, education or personal projects – would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with website platforms (such as WordPress or similar CMS), social media management and basic design tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva).
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, marketing automation and CRM tools including Hubspot.
- Excellent written communication skills – able to write clearly, engagingly and in a consistent brand voice for external audiences.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Curious, self-motivated and eager to learn – comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment and keen to make a real impact.
- An interest in or knowledge of the insurance or financial services sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
