Join to apply for the System Planning Engineer role at SSEN TransmissionBase Location: Glasgow or Perth, Scotland.Salary: £50,100 - £65,000 + benefits.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableSSEN Transmission has an opportunity for an Engineer to join our Network Policy team within our Strategic Energy Planning department.Your work will contribute to strategies, investments, and external positioning in areas including north of Scotland, future network planning policy, long-term network development, and the next price control.You will:Research and communicate the energy network policy landscape and industry benchmarking to help decision-makers optimize performance, investment decisions, and strategic decisions.Undertake power system analysis, including technical assessments of generation, flexible resources, and demand to determine future study approaches and document outcomes.Work with stakeholders in the Networks directorate, wider Networks business, and external parties to provide comment/opinion and share information.Employ numerate skills, curiosity, commitment, a good work discipline, and a willingness to learn.Have enthusiasm for energy and engineering with a passion for innovative ideas that will help transform the energy industry.You have:Working knowledge of electrical theory and experience in using power system analysis tools such as Power Factory or similar.Ability to write clear and well-structured technical reports and network requirements and provide focused information for senior management.Experience in power system analysis, design, and planning, ideally within electricity transmission.The ability to work with people from a range of disciplines in the organization, with good communication and presentation skills to discuss technical and code information.The ability to prioritize, plan, and organize whilst challenging and questioning if anything is unclear.An understanding of the electricity network industry and the Government’s policies towards Net Zero would be advantageous.SSE has a bold ambition – to be a leading energy company in a net-zero world.
