Position Details Base Location: Scottish locations – Glasgow, Perth, Inverness, or Aberdeen Salary: £58,100 – £87,100 + car/car allowance, performance bonus, and benefits Working Pattern: Permanent, Full Time, Flexible options available The Role As part of SSEN Transmissions Offshore Portfolio, we seek a Senior Substation Engineer for our Offshore AC Project Engineering team, supporting Island projects and the transition to Net Zero. The projects include advanced AC plant, grid control, and stabilization technology. Responsibilities Review and approve substation designs (33kV to 400kV), including diagrams, layouts, and scope documentation. Promote best practices in substation design, suggesting improvements and managing risks. Support project decision-making through peer reviews. Provide technical support and guidance to Project Engineers, supporting recruitment and development. Advise on external resources and manage external consultants and contractors. Candidate Requirements Experience in transmission development/design up to 400kV, with the ability to assess technical issues and solutions. Strong understanding of relevant legislation (e.g., CDM & ESQCR). Effective communication skills for technical discussions with management. Ability to work with stakeholders and build relationships. Degree in Electrical or relevant engineering discipline; Chartered Engineer status or working towards it preferred.
