Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Inverness, Aberdeen or Perth.

The role: We have fantastic Project Management opportunities — from Assistant to Project Manager — to join the SSEN Transmission Capital Delivery team and lead projects through their construction phases as part of Scotland’s transition to Net Zero. These projects vary in scale and complexity, typically ranging from £10m to £50m+. These opportunities will offer the right candidate a leading role in our portfolio of RIIO‑T3 Resilience Projects, including Asset Replacement, Site Security and EV charging infrastructure. These roles present a great opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of projects and are open to candidates from a wide range of project delivery backgrounds, particularly those who bring different perspectives and approaches to delivery.
You will:
- Collaboratively lead SSE project teams and coordinate multiple external contractors to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget and to the required quality.
- Guide and oversee the development and construction phases of large capital projects, ensuring full compliance with governance, standards and regulatory obligations.
- Apply SSE’s Safety Management Systems, best practice and LCP governance throughout all stages of project delivery.
- Build supportive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maintain clear communication and thoughtful, well‑informed decision making.
- For PM roles: support, coach and develop team members, encouraging growth and continuous development.
You have:
- A well‑developed background in project management, engineering or construction, with solid knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style and a proven ability to deliver large or complex projects successfully.
- Contract management experience (NEC3 preferred), with the confidence to support and manage costs, forecasting and integrated project programmes effectively.
- Experience delivering major projects, ideally in electricity transmission, or the ability to transfer and apply your skills from other large‑scale environments.
- For PM roles: experience in line management, with the ability to lead, support and nurture individuals within a reporting structure.
