Base Location

Flexible Scotland | We\’re proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base \’home\’ location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Peterhead or Stornoway.

Salary

£50,100 – £75,100 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role

We are looking for Occupational Safety Advisors in various locations to support our growth within SSEN Transmission. At SSE, safety is our number one value. We live by our licence, if it\’s not safe, we don\’t do it. We focus on ensuring that we have no injuries or major environmental incidents, and that people are healthy and happy at work. Reporting to the Regional Health and Safety Manager, you\’ll provide proactive and pragmatic occupational health and safety guidance to various stakeholders throughout SSEN Transmission.

You will

  • Support effective mitigation of risks by raising awareness and promoting a practical and professional understanding of occupational safety.
  • Support construction projects during network growth and contribute to the development and improvement of the Transmission Safety Health and Wellbeing (SHW) Management System. This includes training, providing information and monitoring health and safety performance.
  • Provide positive engagement and guidance to our Network Engineering teams in fulfilling their responsibilities under UK Health and Safety legislation and internal procedures. This includes ensuring incidents are investigated, reviewed, recorded, communicated and reported at the correct levels, with actions closed out.
  • Develop trusted working relationships with key stakeholders while promoting our Safety Licence: if it\’s not safe, we don\’t do it.
  • Collaborate broadly within SSEN Transmission and across the SSE Group to support occupational health and safety throughout the business.

You have

  • A graduate qualification in Occupational Safety (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) with proven experience in safety and risk management. Membership of IOSH (or equivalent organisation) is also preferred.
  • Professional stakeholder management skills to ensure cross business collaboration and build a high performing, commercially and customer focused safety culture.
  • Detailed knowledge of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication skills with a natural ability for building and maintaining relationships with all stakeholder levels.
  • A full UK driving licence with the flexibility to travel to our various SSEN sites and projects.
