Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations – Perth, Inverness or Aberdeen. Travel will also be required to Northern Scotland and the Islands.

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role:

  • We are seeking a Natural Capital Manager to lead the development and delivery of SSEN Transmission’s Natural Capital Strategy, ensuring our work supports a Nature Positive Scotland.
  • This is a key role that blends environmental expertise with strong financial oversight, guiding how we forecast, budget and track investment in nature restoration projects.
  • Working across Northern Scotland and the Islands, you will help shape industry leading approaches to natural capital and nature reporting, ensuring our commitments are met with ambition and rigour.

You will:

  • Develop and deliver a natural capital strategy for SSEN Transmission to ensure that the business meets its commitments on natural capital & nature carbon and contributes to a nature positive Scotland.
  • Work with finance, project managers, and the wider nature team to forecast, budget, and track spending associated with nature restoration projects to ensure that appropriate financial rigour is applied to offsite nature restoration.
  • Act as the subject matter expert to design, develop and deliver effective and proactive natural capital interventions, working closely with teams across the business including project managers, engineers, procurement, and operations.
  • Work with the sustainability team and SSE group to develop and deliver industry leading nature reporting, staying up to date with latest national and international requirements.
  • Liaise with supply chain and procurement teams to improve reporting and data for nature impacts and dependencies in the supply chain.

You have:

  • Experience of budget management, forecasting and spend reporting for large capital projects.
  • A deep understanding of current natural capital and nature carbon standards, markets and options for measuring natural capital and nature carbon.
  • Experience of nature reporting (e.g. TNFD, SBTN, ESRS, CSRD etc.) or wider sustainability reporting.
  • Ability to build and foster excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders to engage, influence and negotiate to ensure SSEN Transmission is a sector leader in natural capital.
