The role:
SSEN Transmission is seeking a Telecoms Services Manager to oversee the development and implementation of telecommunications solutions for all transmission substations, strategic sites, and plant. This includes platforms for protection, control, SCADA, automation, asset monitoring, black start voice, and network cyber security to support our digital strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join the team and learn about our business from the front line, implementing systems which will benefit our business, and ultimately our customers.
You will:
- Manage the Transmission telecoms commercial portfolio, and interfaces with telecoms service providers and delivery contractors to support other SSEN Transmission business units with telecommunications and operational technology related endeavours.
- Monitor and control the service level agreements with Telecoms Network Service Providers to SSEN Transmission.
- Ensure KPIs are established and utilised to track and improve performance.
- Implement changes to existing circuit services to actualise reduction in annual costs.
- Develop and sign-off of new and revised telecommunications policies, procedures and designs to support future digital plans and cost reductions.
- Establish and maintain our Asset Register for all Transmission telecommunications platforms including microwave radio fixed link mediums, fibre optic fixed link mediums, SDH/PDH and IP based systems.
You have:
- Strong knowledge and experience of the operation and design of telecommunication networks within the electricity utility sector supporting protection, control and SCADA systems applied to the Transmission network.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Electricity and Telecoms statutory, regulatory & license requirements, industry wide codes, network and engineering standards.
- A high level of commercial and cost control skills and experience, to manage and reduce costs for Transmission telecoms services.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to manage your stakeholders and build effective working relationships, including presentation of future Transmission telecoms strategic plans to senior management.
- Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, Business Management or equivalent.
