The role:
Accountable for the engineering and design of private networks, major projects and associated electrical infrastructure. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll work within an exciting, challenging and growing area of the Distributed Energy business, supporting and undertaking the development of design for Electrical Distribution projects for a variety of customers, in compliance with the relevant legislation and design standards. You will be responsible for the planning, designing and provision of technical information and advice to internal and external customers for complex electrical construction works on large HV and EHV networks and associated plant and equipment, including specifying design, installation and commissioning procedures.
You Will:
- Liaison with Transmission and/or Distribution operators to support the development of the proposed scheme and provide technical leadership to prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for EHV and HV electrical distribution networks designs, complying with the relevant design standards and industry legislation.
- Spearhead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to produce detailed design and functional specifications for electrical network infrastructure ensuring solutions and specifications are represented in a contractually effective way to hold strong and resilient contracts, while supporting the tendering and execution of delivery contracts to ensure that design requirements are adhered to.
- Plan, develop and coordinate solutions by providing strong leadership on behalf of the Engineering Solutions team in ensuring a fully coordinated approach to design development and costing, showing strong commercial awareness whilst managing design contracts.
- Actively promote a positive SHE culture, ensuring company and customer SHE rules and procedures are considered during the design phase.
You Have:
- Good understanding of the UK energy industry and its regulations.
- Track record in delivering engineering works for power distribution sector at EHV and HV level through RIBA stages.
- Higher educational qualification within electrical engineering discipline, with professional membership an advantage.
- Can demonstrate strong technical skills and have a detailed understanding of techno-commercial interactions.
- Experience of working in a design and development environment within the energy industry is ideal for this role.
